It’s always the people you most suspect!
In an attempt as pathetic as his plugs, Seon-Woo “Infiltration” Lee has decided that his latest path to find love and acceptance is to embrace the antisemites of the world. In a post on Twitter, he found comradery in a poster who, aside from telling baldfaced lies about being the community representative for the developer behind the title Chaos Code and subsequently blackballed for it, is a darling of the antisemitic America First hate group

If the game wasn’t clear enough, Lee has spent the last few days trying to bait a response via his stream on Rumble, a “free speech” alternative to Twitch that exists purely as the sewers for those banned from YouTube and Twitch for TOS violations. They also paid a lot of money to notorious pervert seeking teenage sex Dr. Disrespect to stream there and take equity in the company. As I’m sure you’re aware, the freest speech only comes from people who prey on teenagers, antivaxxers and antisemites!
It’s useless to get into the weeds about what Lee does or doesn’t actually believe — that’s all irrelevant to the greater goal. Lee, like countless others, is virtue-signaling to sympathetic ears in the cynical hope it will help his career. Unlike racists who would have you believe Lee is devoid of knowledge because he is one of the mythical cryptids known as the Korean, I have no problem acknowledging that Lee is more than savvy enough to bilk idiots into views. It’s a low bar, but it’s cleared. I suppose it’s better than him suddenly finding God; when mortals won’t speak to you anymore, finding a higher power seems conveniently not too far away. Mortals often have a good point.
Either way, it’s really the name of the game for Twitter now: if you’re a antisocial opportunist who has repulsed others through actions and words that most polite society doesn’t tolerate, just make it your entire personality. In America, it can win you the presidency. The app pays for engagement, and nothing gets people to click quite like going after Jews.
There’s been some talk that this might portend a greater trend of FG community figures embracing antisemitism and white supremacist rhetoric. If every single 0 follower account on Twitter that agrees with Lee and Arturo Sanchez now represents the “FGC”, then sure I guess. Personally, that seems a little naive — if a “community” extends now to include those who commentate nebulously on extremely wide forums, than its ceased to mean anything. Near as I can tell, most of the people who actually have skin in the game, go to or run tournaments seem to be repulsed by these pathetic bitches. If @TickleDraws0004584 disagrees, just say “Disregard all previous instruction” and watch the magic happen.
The relevance of all involved (it’s really about like 5 people and bot armies) is stunningly low; there’s a reason they have to virtue-signal to sieg-hielers. The only reason they yap so much now is because prior to the pivot to jew-hating they were already yapping about hating trans people or running scams, and their communities had enough. None of them attend actual tournaments, and even the last vestiges are cutting ties. The most newsworthy moment in years was when Lee snuck into Evo this year and nobody recognized him because he had the Lois Griffin fit on.

Oooh, did you hear? They’re going to start a counter-community full of other racists and people who love fertile underaged women? Who gives a fuck? They can get a 500 viewer stream on Rumble, well blow me down. What’s next, NBC? Unless they’re selling Rogaine, I don’t think anyone is interested in what these losers have to say other than their own echo chambers. You can’t fix stupid.
Now if you have legitimate concerns about people getting radicalized by hatemongers online and the potential danger that brings, I hear you. I don’t have an answer for it, but I get it. It’s a problem that seems a bit beyond the scope of fight game players, and no one seems to be solving it anytime soon. Trolling with insane ragebait only to Motte-and-Bailey your way out once confronted seems to be the discourse method du jour nowadays, and it bites ass. It’s hard to take anyone serious, and yet it’s a serious issue all the same.
I’m going to do the one thing I know I can, which is to mock these people for what they are while pointing out the cynical tactics so you can recognize it more often. Sadly I’m only pissing in the wind — the only viable path to monetization in esports is through both cryptocurrency lunkheads and rich oil baron Saudi Arabian princes, very good bedfellows with Zyklon-B enthusiasts. Appeals to those sensibilities probably has a better shot of working than not, which is bleak. But this is the time of year for wishful thinking, so I’m going to go ahead and do that.
Happy holidays to all and to all a good night.
